Modular Shoes
The fast fashion industry is notorious for its wastefulness, with a staggering amount of discarded clothing that cannot be recycled. Only 16.7% of fabrics can be reused, while approximately one-third of manufactured garments go unsold and end up in landfills. In response to this problem, I have taken a unique approach, focusing on the modularity and multipurposefulness of clothing.
Many of us are compelled to buy multiple articles of clothing for different occasions, leading to more waste and harm to the environment. My personal struggle with this issue motivated me to design and create a seamless, modular shoe that can be used for every season of the year, reducing the need to buy multiple pairs of shoes.
By employing interlocking techniques instead of glue, I have created a product that is both environmentally friendly and versatile. The modular components were intentionally designed to be readily cut from various scraps of leftover fabric, thus effectively addressing another environmental concern.
